Unit 3 - 6 minutes Vocabulary : Frefixes

I learn from BBC Learning English website in unit 3 talk about vocabulary : frefixes,

i write this post to remember what i learn and i make this own example. 

a prefix is a small part of a word, usually just a couple of letters, that we put at the front of a base word to change its meaning.

Here are the prefixes and examples used in the programe:

un -

unhappy

the fans were very unhappy when the artist sick

uncooked

i can't eat these uncooked pie. they are very sour

unclean

that air is unclean. we will sick if breath here

other words with un - : unconfortabe, unhygienic

in -

intolerable

this heat is intolerable. it's making me feel ill

inexpensive ==> cheap

the shop sells inexpensive table phone

inactive

he's put on weight because he is so inactive. He should join a gym

dis -

disagree

i disagree with my girlfriend what we will watch in cinema

disgrace ==> (ashamed of -> memalukan)

your attitude is a disgrace

disguting (horrible -> menakutkan / menjijikan)

there's a disgusting smell in the bathroom

other prefix : misleading (menyesatkan); mistake (kesalahan)

tips:

if you look up some today's words in a dictionary, you'll find lots more words starting with the same prefixes. Many of them may be words that you already knew without the prefix. So, when you add a prefix, you get two words for the price of one.

 

Unit 2 - 6 minutes vocabulary: Adjective and Adverb

Adjective = word describe nouns

1. He's wearing a scruffy old t-shirt --> scruffy
2. I like to wear casual clothes when i'm relaxing at home --> casual
3. James looks very smart in his new shirt and tie --> smart
4. you must wear a formal suit for the interview --> formal
5. Brown jackets were fashionable a few years ago --> fashionable


Adverb = word describe verb

1. He dressed scruffily in old t-shirt --> dressed (verb) scruffily (adverb)
2. I dress casually when i relax at home -> dress (verb) casually (adveb)
3. Dave is smartly dressed today in a new shirt and tie -->
4. Everyone will dress formally at the wedding --> dress (verb) formally (adverb)
5. Sarah was fashionably dressed in a blue coat

1. Bertanya apa yang kamu suka dengan pekerjaanmu?
=> What do you like about your job?

2. Bertanya tempat apa yang paling menarik yang pernah kamu kunjungi?
=> what's the most interesting place you have visit?

3. Apa hari normal saat bekerja?
=> What normally day for you at work

4. Bertanya pernah bertemu orang yang menarik waktu bekerja?
=> do you meet interesting people at work?

5. bertanya pernah takut?
=> do you ever feel scared?

6. bertanya bisa santai ndak waktu bekerja?
=> can you relax when you're working

7. bertanya apakah ada sesuatu yang buruk waktu bekerja?
=> is there anything bad about your job?

why my english not improvement??

i want to write my blog post with english. sory if my grammar so bad.
in this blog i just wanna tell you my activity in sintang for a whole month.
my engish not increase from i start college five years ago. i realize that i never to train.
so from now i want to write everyday in english. give me support.

ok, i will tell about ramadhan 2015.
ramadhan this year start from 18 juny and i leave pontianak to sintang. as usual my daily activity is taraweh and sahur. my wish is i can finish my skripsi before ramadhan end. so i very interesting at the beginning. but my spirit down and change to lazy so i can't finish my skripsi until now. i am very dissapointed.
in ramadhan i usualy read alqur'an and i can khatam qur'an once, but i can't every night taraweh, sometimes i sleep after berbuka. it's bad habit. an important thing is i don't have money in my wallet so i must ask with my parents. i'm so shy.

last thing in this ramadhan is at the end of ramadhan my father pass away after takbiran without sick. i pray my father will peacefull in there. now is in idul fitri after a whole month we are fasting, i am apologize to you and i ready to activity as usual.
